Air, water, land, fire and space are the fundamental elements. And every creation simply has been a permutation and combination of these 5 elements. Ones combination of these elements creates a unique pattern of thought. The thought so profound, that those other minds acknowledge the idea’s uniqueness. Or simply the other minds are unable to recognize its preexistence.

When everyone walked, one man stopped, he relaxed! One might call him a lazy bum, but he relaxed to create an idea; an idea that put the world on the move; an idea called the wheel.

“An idea is simply a profound deviation from an existing line of thought; it is the outcome of some ones creative thought endeavor, it is a line of thinking that breaks the thought barrier”.

Perseverance!!

It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer” - by Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein is one of the greatest mind of our time stated that one of the reason why he was able to solve more complex problem than any other was that he persisted with the problem for long. In order to create good solutions, one should be able to persist with the problem solving.

I have never met a man so ignorant that
I couldn’t learn something from him. –by Galileo Galilee

Having a broader perspective helps in judging ideas and its utility value. People are unique with distinct point of views that may be equally valid from where they view. Individual’s view points are like the passages build up of narrow tunnels. When we add all these tunnel vision what one gets is a border perspective. Brainstorming & synergism are based on this principle. The greater the radius of the tunnel is, the easier the journey.

Each person’s viewpoint makes a contribution to the whole and requires consideration and respect in order to form a complete solution. Or it simply will require us to change in the common mind that chatters” for me to be right, others must be wrong”. Creative mind factor viewpoints coming from wider audience, as each viewpoint can open up many possibilities. A stimulus of interacting with more diverse peoples enriches perspectives, enhance creativity. Breadth of view and understanding are vital capabilities for creative idea generation.

Emotion” is an essential part of human cognition. Emotion can be defined as a state of mind which can make differences in the basic behavior and attitude of human. Emotional intelligence can be applied on the following factors:

  • Self-Awareness
  • Controlling Emotions
  • Empathy
  • Building Relationships

when mind settles in this state, mostly, it triumphs over the rational mind which makes logical decisions by analyzing and understanding the situations. Diaper for kids was invented and not created for old age people yet. Understanding, caring and factoring others concern have a positive effect in the creative thinking process.

"if the optimist invented the aircraft;
the pessimist invented the parachute"

Mind is a parachute it works only if it is open. Whenever an issue is encountered, a problem mind will first try to escape it, if couldn't it will try to fit existing solutions. If the above two doesn't work, it gets stuck and starts worrying. While solution mind looks for alternative ways of solved or enigmatic problems. It does this by exploring different avenues. Solution mindset simply views an issue as "Here is a problem, here is an opportunity". The main reason behind the problems mind set is "Fear factor". It stops the inquiry process of the mind and settles it in problem mind set. The reason is problem mindset look at an opportunity says there are only two kind of people.viz

  • First kind: one who fears
  • Second: one who the pretends as if he/she is not afraid
This line is from the footwear company, which sends two of its executive to evaluate opportunity for selling shoes in Africa. The first executive surveys and finds most of people are bear footed. He comes back to report to his management that Africa is not a good market, no body wears shoe. The second executive surveys and says yes nobody wears shoes so there is tremendous market. The bottom line is a creative mind and has a solution mindset.

"If pen can help me write, why can't it help me talk?"

Creative thinking is based on the philosophy that for creation one should be able to break the thought barrier, for some individual have natural ability to do so (we sometimes call them genius), but many others don't. In order to make the ability to create possible, we have to cross the thought barrier of creation.

A popular example is "in a knock out tournament with 50 participants, how many matches must be conducted so that one could emerge the winner?"

When normal logical thinking is applied it would consume time and lot of logics. On the contrary creative thinking looks at the problems from a different perspective. If there are 50 players and I have to emerge winner, then there has to be 49 losers and each of the losers needs one match so the tournament needs to have 49 matches.

When it comes to logical thinking, the rate differentials between the working of a common mind and a creative mind is fairly negligible but this gap increase geometrically as we climb up the thinking ladder logical->Analogical->creative. Creative thinking demands highest level of imagination that is evident in any successful creator, who has the ability to mentally arrange and re-arrange concepts.

It was dark and gloomy yesterday; it rained yesterday.
It is dark and gloomy today; it will rain today"

You use an analogy when you say that something is like something else (in some aspect but not in all). Analogy when applied to question such as "will it rain today?" one can arrive at the solution as,

"people write with pen"
"I have a pen, so I can write"

solutions derived analogically are based on computations derived from different combination & occurrences of logic.

"If yesterday is Monday, today is Tuesday"

Logical thinking is the process in which one user reasoning consistently to come to a conclusion. Problems or situations that involve logical thinking call for structure, for relationships between facts, and for chains of reasoning that "make sense"

logical inference can be made from logical statements, as in the case below

  • statement1: John is taller that smith
  • statement2: Smith is taller than Steve

Hence we can logically infer "John is taller than Steve"
logical analysis is not without drawbacks. Presenting two options as if they were contradictions or contraries, when in fact they are not, logic falls apart.
Logical inference cannot be applied in all situations as in the case below it can be misleading consider the following example,

  • statement1: I love my professor
  • Statement2: Professor loves his wife
  • logical inference: I love my professor's wife.

On applying logic to the above scenario it either misleads or it is disastrous. There are many situations like the one stated above for which different level of thinking is required, the answer is analogical thinking.
